We may not always be able to avoid the surprises of life, but preparation, resilience, and having a view of the horizon can definitely make a noticeable difference.

Let’s take the time to help ourselves, because a lot of the time, the only cavalry that is coming is you.

Deliberately not driving into a large tree is always a good idea. Looking back, we may see many 'life trees '- significant life challenges or missed opportunities-that we should have intentionally avoided in our 'Life-car.' Recognizing these obstacles is essential for personal growth. The ability to avoid consequential ill-fated results is to see them coming and adjust accordingly. But as we all know, this is often easier said than done. Humans resist change in any form. Our upgraded (Growth-mindset) is hindered by physiological conditioning. Our brains' wiring to protect and survive, so taking chances is off-limits. The two main obstacles for personal expansion are repetitive action programming, and sometimes we feel devalued when we admit our wrongs. So, if you always avoid issues when you recognize an obvious problem on the horizon, and refuse to change path, this is a reaffirmation. But, for the rest of us, here we go. Recognizing problems empowers us to grow and make better choices. Might doesn't make right. Also, doing the wrong thing for a long time doesn't make it right. Mental and emotional growth can be the 'water-of-life.' Being able to traverse all situations in a spirit of understanding allows us to be 'Bigger than life.' We will find a way—the how will be found in the power of our determination. Embracing change is essential for growth and feeling capable of overcoming challenges. We can often recover from mishaps. However, if we don't consciously modify our behavior, such as reflecting on mistakes and implementing new strategies, we risk repeating the same patterns. Learning from mishaps is key to breaking cycles and fostering growth. However, avoiding a collision is better than cleaning up the mess from a crash. "The best laid plans of mice and men, often go astray." And sometimes fate has a different story from our own. In other words, sometimes crap happens. But we should always do our best with what we have. Serve others as you wish to be served. Encourage a thriving, vibrant lifestyle, full of equity and peace. Have you ever known you shouldn't do something, only to find yourself doing it anyway? Then, use all these well-crafted reasons to validate your choice. Destruction doesn't come from power; it comes from a lack of wisdom. To prevent harm, we must actively develop and apply wisdom, using our knowledge thoughtfully and responsibly to make better choices. I am sure you have heard that "Knowledge is power." Unfortunately, that is not true. Knowledge is the path to power if applied constructively. Sometimes we are forced to make split decisions, and we can fall short on a positive strategy. In the spur of the moment, experience plays a vital role. In contrast, if we have stored experiences that have not served us well, we will draw on the negative knowledge stream when making decisions. So, how can we help ourselves make better decisions, no matter the situation? Analytical reflection of our actions, words, and deeds. Journaling our trials, tribulations, and experiences is an excellent tool for data analysis. Often, we can create specific strategies to be implemented during specified occasions. For instance, if we know a particular person causes us to have an adverse reaction, create a detailed account of the hows and whys. After careful consideration, achieve the desired result and build the bridge between. I had a colleague who consistently misrepresented the facts in their favor. And no one seemed to catch on. The manipulation infuriated me as my colleague caused a lot of issues, but always seemed to sidestep the blame. I found myself focusing on what they did and said, which would put me in a reactive state. And reactive is never better than proactive. Once I realized that this person always had the same approach, I was able to move beyond a reactive state. I made sure my actions protected my position. And I could validate my actions, and the results gave them credibility. I couldn't control what they did, but I could control what I did to a greater degree. My situation improved dramatically. We cannot always have everything to work out as we would like, and sometimes that is a blessing. Additionally, we learn a lot more from falling than from wondering about falling. An ounce of prevention is always better than a pound of cure. If we do get hit and fall, the experience becomes invaluable if we learn from it and avoid repeating ourselves in the future. Our confidence will grow as we realise we can depend on our chosen strategies. And quick thinking becomes our friend.
