Our life is systems and strategies. I don't know about you, but I had two insistent hangups about systems and strategies. Firstly, I felt boxed in. There needed to be more room for creativity. And it seemed like it could have been more interesting. Secondly, when I thought of systems, I thought of Windows or manufacturing in a business environment. Little did I realize how off-base I was. Every aspect of our lives is our systems and strategies. And once you become consciously aware of your systems of operation, you will empower yourself in unbelievable ways. Have you ever got up and felt great for no apparent reason? Or performed a task, and everything came out "perfect?" Only to find you couldn't obtain that same result at will. Or never again. A lot of what we do in life is automatic. In other words, we are doing things without conscious awareness. Some things are okay in this state. Imagine being conscious of the blood flowing in your body, every beat of your heart, and the millions of other functions. We would be too distracted to accomplish even the easiest of things. However, being aware of every aspect is necessary if you perform tasks for the first time. Because if you do well, you need to be able to repeat the operations the same way to get the same result. And if there is a problem, you can easily adjust appropriately. You can see the immediate advantages. But I will introduce you to the "must-do" and "must-have" properties of being aware of your patterns and strategies. Everyone would rather be happy than sad. Or calm rather than anxious. And confident rather than fearful. You may be asking yourself, but what has this got to do with systems and strategies? Please give me a moment to explain. Okay, take something as simple as getting out of bed and using the bathroom. There are several straightforward "ingredients" to this action. You must first realize you need to go to the bathroom. Then, get up and go to the bathroom. Adjust your clothing. Then, assume the proper position and use the bathroom. Simple, so far right. But what if you realized you needed to use the bathroom and did your business right then? Alternatively, if you went to the bathroom, sat on the toilet without arranging your clothing, and urinated, you would soil your clothes. There is a specific system for everything we do. And every result of our strategies is either right on the money, way off, or a little bit of both. My Mum would remind me that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Also, I don't know about you. I am not fond of repeating something because I failed to obtain the desired result the first time. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Here's my point: there are systems for you to be happy. There are systems to be productive and motivated. However, there are strategies for being unhappy and non-productive. These are the things we will explore. Everyone has their definition of success, productivity, and happiness. So, we won't go into the micro because the answers remain the same. We often believe that we are independent thinkers. And we are the stewards of our life. However, most of what we do comes from programmed responses in one way or another for most of our lives. Just like colors envoke physiological reactions, as stated by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, based on the work of Hippocrates, defined the four temperaments in terms of colors: Cool Blue, Earth Green, Sunshine Yellow, and Fiery Red. Additionally Red: Passion, Love, Anger. Orange: Energy, Happiness, Vitality. Yellow: Happiness, Hope, Deceit. Green: New Beginnings, Abundance, Nature. Blue: Calm, Responsible, Sadness. Purple: Creativity, Royalty, Wealth. Corporations use colors to create emotions for selling products. And to catch the eye of a potential customer. Companies pay millions to understand how to arrange their shelves of merchandise to get you to buy using colors. The colors are triggers. Triggers lead to action. We all have actions connected to triggers. The actions are either helpful or harmful. Consequently, it is of the utmost importance that we recognize the association. Fortunately, we can create our triggers and associate customized reactions and actions that will be helpful to us. Becoming aware of our triggers is the first step. For instance, if you find that you are in a particular state and then by a thought or interaction with a person, place, or thing, you find yourself in another mental state. That is a trigger. The partnered actions may be anger, frustration, or hatred. Your response may be, "I had no choice," or "It made me do it." You had previously programmed your mind to activate a routine autonomously from the trigger. For us, it can include a drink when stressed, anger from a particular exposure, or food when depressed. We can use the triggers to be helpful, not harmful. For instance, you may not be satisfied with your life. And every time a bill comes in, you look at social media and start comparing, or someone is critical toward you. You start attacking yourself. We can change this forever. Find three to five times you felt fantastic about life. It can be a party when you are five. Or the first kiss. Or a hug from Grandma. It doesn't matter as long as you feel ecstatic at that moment. As you go deep into that beautiful moment and relive the feelings, tap yourself on the forehead or shoulder or clap your hands. And shout yes! Now, repeat for each satisfying memory. Next time you feel negativity, quickly enact the clapping hands or tapping yourself and shouting yes. Eventually, you will be able to tap yourself or clap your hands. And you will trigger the comfort and aid of your helpful feelings. And permanently rid yourself of the harmful feelings. Your triggered negative thoughts that caused destructive actions are now a thing of the past. It is never a good idea to wrestle with thoughts or feelings. Because feelings and thoughts are fantasy, it's like figuring out how to use money from a dream to pay a bill. Our bodies and minds have their prescribed way of doing things. Instead of trying to fight the natural makeup of ourselves, why not use it to our advantage? Never curse the rain or try to dodge the raindrops. Just use an umbrella. Please implement some of these strategies to change your life permanently. I promise you have the power to make a massive change in your life. You are worth it. Well, my friends, until next time. Please remember to Love Yourself. You are Not Alone. You are relevant and worthy. How About that?
