The Power of Discovering Things for Yourself Where does the time go? There is never enough time. There always seems to be one more thing to do, however hard or long we work on our wants and needs. It's no wonder that we like the technology shortcuts. Technology has been a saving grace in many areas. There are times when I could not have made deadlines and obligations without the support of technology. But I also found that it was to my advantage to still look at the information through my eyes, use what was relevant, and discard the fluff. In a world filled with information at our fingertips, it's easy to rely on others to provide us with answers. We often turn to experts, mentors, and even search engines to find solutions to our problems. AI, now included in search engines, brings advantages and disadvantages. While seeking guidance is valuable, there is immense power in discovering things for yourself. Embracing Curiosity Our brains are incredible reasoning devices. As advanced as AI is, its information still originates in the human brain. When we embark on a journey of self-discovery, we tap into our innate curiosity. The spark ignites our desire to explore, learn, and grow. By actively seeking knowledge and understanding, we open ourselves to new possibilities and expand our horizons. By incorporating our brain's capacity to reason in this process, we create new neural pathways that enable us to expand our mental capabilities; it creates a domino effect of cause and effect. Too many people need to seek the authentic experience of living. By settling for images and sounds on screens, we rob ourselves of the personal development of authentic experiences. Also, since our brains do not differentiate between reality and imagination, we can believe we know things we don't. However, some studies indicate that people who watch horror movies about pandemics could navigate the COVID-19 situation with greater ease. But being great at a video martial arts game will not help you in actual combat, even if your brain tells you it will. Building Confidence and Independence Discovering things for ourselves builds confidence and independence, which comes from sound judgment. There must be failures and victories to establish credibility in our choices. When we rely solely on others for answers, we limit our potential. By taking the initiative to find solutions, we develop problem-solving skills and gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. This newfound knowledge empowers us to make informed decisions and take control of our lives. This skill also gives us the power to determine if what we are doing is to our benefit or detriment. With so many negative influencers and people seeking to limit us as human beings, we must be constantly vigilant. Uncovering Hidden Talents and Passions Something suitable for someone else may be toxic for you. And how many times have people said, "If I were you..." But here is the problem: they are not you. We all have talents and aptitudes that can produce never-before results when mixed in different amounts. Exploring new territories allows us to uncover these hidden talents and passions. When we venture outside our comfort zones, we expose ourselves to a world of possibilities. By trying new things and experimenting, we may stumble upon skills and interests we never knew we had. This self-discovery can lead to a fulfilling and purpose-driven life. We will never completely know ourselves. Letting everything and everyone lead us will keep us from knowing very much about ourselves. Developing Critical Thinking Skills Discovering things for ourselves sharpens our critical thinking skills. It encourages us to question, analyze, and evaluate information. We learn to think critically and make informed judgments by engaging in independent research and exploration. This ability to think for ourselves is invaluable in navigating the complexities of life and business. All innovators blaze new trails with unique perspectives on available information. Or formulate the novel possibilities using new combinations of the known. Cultivating Resilience and Adaptability When we take the initiative to find things out for ourselves, we cultivate resilience and adaptability. We learn to embrace challenges and setbacks as opportunities for growth. By facing obstacles head-on, we develop the resilience to persevere and the adaptability to adjust our approach when needed. These developed skills are necessary for every single issue not to become a crisis. Once we are in crisis mode, the frontal cortex of our brain (where our reasoning and analysis happen)is limited, and the amygdala (Where our fight, flight, or freeze reflex originates) activates and stimulates unreasoned actions. Practical reasoning is essential for success in any endeavor. Fostering Personal Growth Self-discovery is a journey of personal growth. It allows us to uncover our strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. By actively seeking knowledge and experiences, we continuously evolve and become the best versions of ourselves. This personal growth benefits us and positively impacts those around us. Conclusion While seeking guidance and learning from others is valuable, there is immense power in discovering things for yourself. Embracing curiosity, building confidence and independence, uncovering hidden talents, developing critical thinking skills, cultivating resilience and adaptability, and fostering personal growth are just a few of the benefits of taking the initiative to find answers on our own from collected data. So, let's embrace the journey of self-discovery and unlock our limitless potential. Remember, the power to find things out for yourself lies within you. So the next time you ask an AI model or someone what you should do or how you should do it, understand the AI is getting smarter, not you. And this will not benefit you in the long run; this will hurt you eventually. You will build your resilience and autonomy from your internal skill sets, not the ability to accept all answers given. Please remember your greatest asset is you as a fully self-realized you. Well, my friends, I hope you have found this helpful. Please remember to Love Yourself. You are Not Alone.
